Pellston Fire Department serves the west side of the Township (West side of Burt Lake). Pellston Fire Chief is Randy Bricker.
Topinabee Fire Department serves the east side of the Township (east side of Burt Lake). Tobinabee Fire Chief is Mike English.
Roberts Road is the dividing line between the two fire service areas.
In April 2023 Burt Township approved a one-time expense of $30,000 (from the Fire Millage Account) toward the purchase of a fire boat for Pellston Fire Department. Pellston has since received delivery of the boat and brought it to the November Board meeting.
